Rumor has it that Shady Pines is built on Indian burial grounds. As the story goes, Mr. Shawn’s Great-Great-Great-Great-Grandfather killed the Tribe leader and secured the property. The aspect of being a family owned and oriented business is what sets Shady Pines apart from other nursing homes. Shady Pines first opened its doors in 1823 and since has been passed down within the Shawn family tree from generation to generation.
Under the current management of Mr. Shawn, residents have rated their experiences at Shady Pines the highest ever in the history of the facility. Despite huge budget cuts and the small asbestos issue, Shady Pines is still referred to as “the Bellagio” of retirement homes.
Many think retirement homes are places people go to die. Trying to dispel those stereotypes, Shady Pines is the opposite, it’s a place to start living again. You know what they say, “Stay with the best before you're laid to rest!”
